‘Leeds United’ set to sign De Gea from Madrid for £23m

Leeds United have signed Spain midfielder De Geay on a two-year deal from Real Madrid, the club has confirmed.

The 25-year-old has been on loan at Real Madrid this season, making five appearances and scoring three goals.

He is the latest player to sign a new deal at Elland Road and has made over 1,000 appearances for the club.

De Geay joined Real Madrid from Athletic Bilbao for a fee believed to be in the region of £16m last summer.

It is understood that the former Barcelona forward will be eligible for selection for Leeds’ matchday squad this Saturday.

Leeds have confirmed that they will be looking to re-sign striker Jordan Rhodes from Cardiff City, as well as signing a further two players.

Rhodes has been a constant for Cardiff this season having scored three goals in eight games.

Rivers, 21, is also eligible for the Championship.

Lions have signed 19-year‑old midfielder Michael Laudrup from Liverpool, with his signing to the club confirmed.

This is the fifth loan deal the club have completed this summer and they have also completed a deal for 18-year‐old striker James Tavernier.
